The Excitement of Something New

0
So here it is, my first blog entry! The excitement is overflowing, let's see how long it lasts :)). There are so many other blogs dedicated to snail mail and making mine stand out should be near impossible. However, becoming the most famous craft/hobby blogger is nowhere on my bucket list, I'm doing this for my personal pleasure since I love typing almost as much as handwriting ;) This blog will be my little exhibitionist corner, and boy do I have things to expose, ha ha ha :D

Some of you might know me from Swap-bot, Postcrossing or similar sites, but I imagine that most of you don't. First of all, I would suggest you visit my various profiles I have on the internet. You can reach them by using link buttons on the right column. I am active on Swap-bot and Postcrossing, my postcard collection can be found on flickr and some personal not-only-mail-related photos on Instagram. I'm awfully shy and long introductions are not my thing, but here's some basic info about me.

Name: Milda
Age: 27
Nationality: Lithuanian
Current location: Somewhere near Madrid, Spain
Occupation: English tutor. Yes, I actually charge money for speaking bad English to those who speak even worse English than me! Life's tough, everybody's got to eat... or send out mail, according to one's priorities.
Profession: None. I was seeking BA in Philosophy but left just before submitting my thesis. I haven't regretted it so far.
Passionate for: Reading (Fowles, Wilde, Dostoevsky, Faulkner, Remarque, Márquez, Steinbeck, Echenoz, Hamsun, Rand, Russell, Chomsky -- this is just a handful of the 'big' names on my influence list), solitude, crosswords, board games, my cats (I promise to be shoving them down your throat a lot :P), public transport, organising and cataloguing, trying out new dishes and being introduced to different cuisines, murder mysteries, humor (I don't have any taboos and I'm not easily offended by political incorrectness), graphic arts, electronic gadgets, geekery, beer and cocktails (my inner alcoholic has her fancy needs)... Oh, and did I mention mail? I guess it's fair to say that the latter is my number one hobby, as I don't have a blog about serial killers, metro maps or sashimi... yet.
Swapping: I am very open to private swaps, be it of postcards, touristy trinkets, stationery or food items. My only requirements are meticulousness and a kind attitude.

Well, I guess I'm done with this virginal chapter of blogging, now off to the eye candy. I'm not exactly sure what structure this blog is going to have, nor about its contents. I might review new products, rant, ask for readers' opinions, offer items for trade, maybe even write topics about mail-related issues (lousy post office workers are the first on my guillotine list) or update on my personal life (unlikely). One thing is certain though, there are going to be many photos from the postal realm, and hopefully what you'll see is going to inspire you!

Oh, and yeah, the blog design is tacky on purpose. It even features half of my cat, Nietzsche, lying on a postcard. If I'm allowed to choose between tongue-in-cheek and artsy, then, well, the new Frida Kahlo will have to be born somewhere else.
